I understand I should buy a diesel but I cant afford the extra $,$$$ I"m towing v a 93 Chevy 35000 Dullay w/ a 454TBI and it sucks. It sucks towing increase hills.... Around 45mph, It sucks gas about 7mpg towing.I"m looking at the new "02 Dodge ram Ext.Cab 4X4 through 5.9L Gas with a towing capacity of 8,250lbs. Who has actually towed with one??????Thanks
If friend don"t favor your 454 then ns doubt the you would choose a 5.9 l Dodge. My evade tows light load trailers fine up or down, but put something heavy behind it and I can"t keep up through my friends 454, no by a lengthy shot. Anytime I"m towing, I"m wishing I had bought the ¾ ton diesel.
I agree, if you are going to save towing keep that 454. Mileage will suck yet it need to pull alot better than a 5.9 gasser. I tow mine CJ or Toy through my 1500 gasser and also it does ok, pulls hills alright however it needs to be under in 2nd gear and really revving. I can"t imagine just how towing might possibly improve by going to a smaller sized engine. Probably there is other wrong with your 454 or your gearing is means off contrasted to your tire size?
The push is a gang of devilish *******. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. That is a cheap catch-all because that fuckoffs and misfits—a false doorway come the backside the life, a filthy piss-ridden little hole nailed turn off by the structure inspector

I tow through my 360 Magnum (5.9L).It has actually never had actually a difficulty towing even 14,000lb GCVW. Simply needs a better radiator and a highflow fan to save cooler.Last trip, ns was comes up the vantage hill native the columbia flow going west. Anyone that left the NWRCA and went towards seattle, knows what type of bitch that hill is.) Towing 7,000lbs behind mine 6,000lb 1500 dodge, I was able to pull the hill doing 55mph in second gear. Engine just gained REAL warm. But, the two RV"s behind me just were maybe to traction 35mph, and also I was able to accelerate up the hill..... Sorta. Now climbing the hill out... I acquired 6.5mpg. (oh yeah, mine 1500 has actually 31.6" tires and also 3.92 gears, if I proceed to tow with it choose this, I"ll prob ably gain 4.20 or so, come drop the RPMS in the sweet spot because that towing in ~ 60-70mph on steep hills)For towing a trailer and also jeep around, that is not as well bad, the tows far better than a ford F250 does, even a diesel. (so said the diesel F250 owner that was riding v me towing 6,500lbs) catch is... You can"t be afraid to push the engine HARD.
