You are watching: 2012 chevy malibu power steering fluid reservoir location

I can"t seem to find the power steering fluid reservoir. In the manual, it states that it should be on the left side of the engine but its not there. What is that small black cap above the engine? Is that it?

I think in your model, the power steering fluid reservoir is called the battery ;-)Sorry, couldn"t resist. I believe you have the electric power assisted version of power steering, so there is no reservoir.
Yeah, I called GM"s recall and it uses the electric power assisted version even though the manual states that the V6 version has the fluid one.I was looking at this because sometimes, I find it hard to turn my steering wheel. Then I saw the GM steering recall but it seems like my car isn"t covered for that. Does anyone else here have problems with the steering on the 2007 Malibu?Could it be that they are waiting for more problems to come up for the 2007 model then they will initiate the recall?

I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu and the power steering came up on my dash and I have no clue where it"s located under my hood to even put anything in if it even has a spot for it.

If your 2010 (or any Gen7 for that matter) has a 4-cylinder engine, you have EPS - electronic power steering. If it has a V6 it has hydraulic PS and a fluid reservoir.

I also have a "10 Chevy Malibu and I believe my mileage is pasted the warranty coverage for a recall. My power steering light started coming on last week and has gotten worse to where I have to pull over even on the interstate and restart the car until it goes off again. I bought fluid too and come to find out there"s no reservoir for the fluid because its electrical. Instead we are going to replace the "power steering pump" which is located under the steering wheel column. It"s labeled a pump but its in fact an electrical part. I hope this works for us.
The Power Steering Torque sensor on my car was replaced as part of the recall Feb 2016. It went out again this January and I had to pay for the replacement. It was expensive to replace.

I have 2004 Malibu. V6 took to dealer because of power steering message. They changed the power steering recall part. Upon pick up the steering wheel turns all the way to the right when key is turned to already n position. I have read bulletins sent out to dealers. I wonder if they recalibrated my steering? Also suppose to put a pin in while doing recall to keep in alignment. Wonder if they did that. I overheard mechanic say it had blown 4 sensors. He didn"t know what was wrong. I love my Malibu. Just want her running right again.

Let me see if I understand what you just said...You turn the key on and the steering wheel turns all the way to the right? If that"s the case, they need to take it back and finish the job or re-do it.
