Strads will always hold their value. At this time a new Strad runs about $2000 for the basic model. $1,250 is actually not a poor price because that one in very an excellent condition.

Mt. Vernon, new York, and early Elkhart Strads can conveniently go for an ext than $2,500 nowadays!

BTW, maybe 4 year ago, i paid $550 for my daughter"s silver- Bach 37 from a personal seller"s newspaper classified ad. Dram great, plating is more than likely 99% through light surface ar scratches and no dings. The seller put it in a brand new Bach Strad case and threw in straight, cup, and Harmon mutes in ~ no added charge. I should inspect the build date indigenous the serial #.

Is the the trumpet the was supplied on The Beatles" coin Lane?

Nope. The trumpet offered on "Penny Lane" was a piccolo trumpet, most likely a Selmer. The is pitched one octave higher than the Bach Strad Bb trumpet.

Piccolo indigenous recording:

There is a Bach Stradivarius piccolo trumpet, however until recently most trumpeters shied away from Bach piccs and used other brands instead.

Since Schilke came out v the P5-4, many do to aid facilitate a lower register. Yet the Schilke didn"t come out until several years after "Penny Lane." Selmer had some 4-valve piccs, i think. Anyway, there are still 3-valve models favor Schilke"s very own P7 which room designed because that Baroque music, where the trumpet never actually dram low and also so a fourth valve just gets in the way.

As it transforms out, Brussels is no fun when your sister is deathly ill, she husband is being a total prick, and also their bad 5-month-old infant is captured in the middle. Along with me. Who"d"a thought?

The one thing (yes ONE thing) we saw in 2 job there to be the museum of musical instruments. And we only saw prefer 2/3 that it before husband and wife acquired into a shouting match. But that 2/3 was totally worth the entirety trip. When I get back to the states I"ll write up a totality blog ~ above it, complete with images (I take it so many pictures that the brass instruments that the camera ran out of batteries!)

For now, this"ll have to do: http://www.mim.fgov.be

I have the exact same question around my trumpet regarding value. The is a silver- plated Bach Stradivarius design 37 make in Elkhart, IN which was purchased about 1980. I"ve referred to as several shops in Nashville in search of an appraiser but none the them sell that service. I would be happy to market on Ebay or the like but I am having actually trouble identify a value. It has actually a few dings and also some of the silver- plating is tarnished beyond redemption. The middle value on slide is additionally stuck. Any type of advise ~ above the value or the best method to determine value is appreciated.
