You are watching: Honda 300 fourtrax front brake drum

I need a new front drum cause mine broke on mt 94 4x4 fourtrax 300 will they fit off of a 91 and will it matter they are off a 2x4?
Well it looks like the 2x4 has the bearing in the hub instead of in the knuckle like on the 4x4. Is this right?

You should be able to use hubs off severla years for 4x4 units only. A 2x4 has a different front spindle assembly and I don"t believe the drums are similar. I could be wrong on that, but probably better to stick with a 4x4 drum.

Ok the guy told me they are for 4x4 so I went ahead and got them to replace mine. I think I did good I got both the front drums and hubs for $36 and free shipping. Here is a pic of mine

Dont be surprised if those drums you bought are worn out or near the service limit. i learned the hard way buying cheap drums on ebay, most of the time they are completely worn out when you get them.

Your 1994 TRX300FW uses a 45700-HM5-930 brake drum on the front, which happens to be the same drum as all years of the TRX400FW, 1995-2003. I am pretty sure the 2wd drum is smaller and uses different brake shoes but the 4x4 uses the same brake shoes as the TRX400FW as well.TRX400FW front hub - 44610-HM5-A80TRX300FW front hub - 44610-HM5-A801995 to 1997 TRX400FW drum seal - 91751-HA7-6511998 to 2003 TRX400FW drum seal - 91751-HM5-A111994 TRX300FW drum seal - 91751-HA7-651The seal changed in 1998 to include an extra rubber flap on the outside edge of the seal, but I think it will still fit, or you can bang off yours and put it on the drum if it does not. The drum did not change, just the seal.

If you are hauling or towing or trail riding and a steep hill comes up your gonna wish you had front brakes and besides ask yourself are ya really gonna cheap out and not have front brakes? No your not, your gonna end up replacing all this stuff it"s not that costly or labor intensive, and you"ll be glad you do have front brakes after it"s done friend.

I think you got a deal for $36. I would suggest you really consider fixing the front brakes. I ran without them for a while and the difference of having them now is fantastic and much safer. Get your bike up and running, but at least try to buy parts and pieces over time to fix the brakes. It also adds value if you decide to sell it. if your drums are decent then all you need is shoes and probably cylinder rebuild kits, so roughly $50 and you are in business.

I agree. I meant to say buy the parts over time and fix it once you get the parts together. Sometimes I know what I mean to say but what gets typed doesn"t match well...

I will fix them at some point but right now all i use the quad for is taking corn to my deer feeders at camp. I"m in fl and its flat down here no steep hills of any kind where i hunt. I am looking for a set of 12" wheels so when I do fix the front brakes i can go with the disk brakes
Switching to dics brakes is definitely the better option then. I am currently doing that with my Yamaha and hope to do the same to my fourtrax afterwards.
