You are watching: Toyota sienna 2nd row seat stuck

I had one of the 2nd row seats removed, and put it back in without consulting the instructions. Instead of connecting the front latches, I put the seat in with the rear latches first (the ones on the floor). Now I can"t get it unlatched, and I can"t latch the front part to the floor. I"ve pulled on the strap on the rear of the seat that usually unlatches the rear of the seat (to tumble the seat forward) but I can"t seem to get that to release it. Any thoughts?
Put a matt on the front latching area such that they do not engage, then tumble the seat forward and at the same time pull on the strap like no tomorrow.................hope this works.........if it does report back please..........Javvy

I had forgotten to respond to this. I ended up putting a short length of 2x4 underneath the seat and prying up with the 2x4 as I pulled on the release strap. After a bit of jiggling, it popped off. I was able to put back in correctly with no problems.
This happened to me just the other day. I discovered an "emergency release latch" on each side, each having a red plastic cap on a short article , evidently to draw your attention to it.In my situation, I could rock the seat front upward about 5 inches or so, enough to lay my face on the floor and look under the "stuck" seat. I saw the red levers and thought Hey I wonder what these do...
To vsparej: Brilliant! Thanks for the tip. I just had the same problem and your advice worked perfectly.

Had same problem, accidentally latched the back hooks first.... red levers pushed towards front of van popped them right off.
Thank you so much for this thread! It is the whole reason I signed up for this forum - to find out how to undo what I did to my van yesterday!
